When the word paradise comes to mind, no country better embodies this word than the Maldives. Isolated in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is made up of 26 atolls and almost 1,200 islands—only which 200 of are inhibited. The sheer amount of colors in the Maldives was amazing, only adding to the beauty of this pristine ocean paradise.
Luxurious overwater villas line the jetty along the bright blue shoreWhile the other side of the island witnessed fiery sunsets of pink and redThe nearby local island was shroud in a sunset of yellow hues as the locals continued fishing for that night’s mealAnd the wildlife also seemed to enjoy the splashes of color around themArriving via seaplane, the Maldives from above is just as beautiful as on the ground with gradients of blueBeaches had soft powdery white sand and we often had them to ourselvesEven the sunrises are unique in their own way with deep shades or purple and orange spreading across the skyAs low tide began at sunset, the water left ripples in the sand as though it was a pristinely manicured Zen gardenEach overwater villa has a private deck with access to the crystal-clear reef for snorkelingTowards the end of our stay we even witnessed the most brilliant rainbow, helping to confirm our belief that the colors of the Maldives are some of the best in the worldThe water is so clear it is easy to spot an assortment of colorful marine life, including these reef sharks that often visited our villaAs waves crashed on shore the shades of blue quickly turned white as they ran over the bright green algaeThe view is a glorious seemingly never-ending stretch of blueWith sandbanks that go on for miles, they become a perfect spot for taking in the sunsetsWhen talking about colors in the Maldives, you have to mention the sunrises and sunsets as each are unique and beautiful in their own wayShades of orange, blue and pink filled the sky nightly at the sandbank
